Hammarviken as an investment company – get to know us

Openness, honesty, respect, and competence. These have been Hammarviken’s guiding principles since it was founded 20 years ago. It was in the early 2000s that Hammarviken was established by Mona and Mats Rydhede to consolidate the ownership of companies and properties within a group. Over time, the number of company holdings has grown, and the internal expertise has expanded. Their once young children, Josefin and Christoffer, are now adults, and Hammarviken is owned by the entire Rydhede family. Today, we invest in small and medium-sized companies with our own capital, aiming to help businesses grow and develop.

What do we invest in & what do we contribute?

In the beginning, we primarily invested in companies within the construction and real estate sectors, but over time, we have expanded to invest in a greater variety of industries. For us, it's about driving the growth of companies while also ensuring we create favorable conditions for a better society on multiple levels, which is why sustainability is a key focus in everything we do.

Currently, we work alongside a total of 662 employees and have a combined turnover of 1.6 billion SEK, and we look forward with confidence to what the future holds.

How well do you know Hammarviken and the business we run today?

Hammarviken as a group invests in both small and medium-sized companies across a range of industries. While many of our engagements are within the construction and real estate sectors, we are also involved in areas such as infrastructure, events, and food, among others. It feels natural to broaden our horizons as internal expertise continues to grow.

The needs of the companies vary, and we want to ensure that each business has access to the knowledge and expertise required. Much of our expertise is gathered in-house to best support our subsidiaries, including specialists in financing, law, and sustainability as well as corporate governance, leadership, and sales. Our Investment Criteria

As investors, we have a clear strategy for the type of companies we want to be a part of. While we are not restricted to a specific industry or revenue size, there are certain criteria that are important to us when making investments.

  • - We are flexible when it comes to ownership but prefer to be majority owners.

  • - We primarily invest in companies with headquarters in Sweden, with most of their operations based in the Nordic region.

  • - It’s essential to us that the company has growth potential, and we are not afraid of challenges.

  • - We believe in working long-term together, striving toward shared goals.

  • - Sharing values and guiding principles is a prerequisite for us to enter into a partnership.

Hammarviken typically invests in mature companies, but if you run—or know someone who runs—a startup, please contact our subsidiary Yuncture, which supports and empowers entrepreneurs.

Hammarviken is an active investor, and we bring a lot to the companies we invest in, especially when it comes to strategic work. Together with committed partners and employees, we guide companies through transformation processes. For example, we work extensively to support management teams and boards in their day-to-day operations as well as help pave the way forward.

We are passionate about seeing our companies grow, and in most cases, we invest without a predetermined time horizon. We make sure to give our companies the momentum they need, and it’s important that they receive the time and care required. The most recent company we exited from is Stavdal, which is now part of Ramirent.

Some of our current investments include Safety Respect, experts in fall protection within the construction industry. Another company we have invested in is Space Production, which designs and creates exhibition stands, office interiors, showrooms, and structures for events.

Almost exactly a year ago, we moved into our delightful offices in the heart of Gothenburg, more specifically on Lennart Torstenssonsgatan, right next to Näckrosdammen. The spaces are wonderful, with proximity to both the vibrant city and nature's greenery.
