Code of conduct
Purpose and Background
The Code of Conduct is a tool and a common guide for us to relate to and rely on when carrying out our mission within Hammarviken and its group companies.
The Code of Conduct is about how we relate to our external environment, such as owners, employees, guests, customers, partners, suppliers, consultants, society, as well as the press and media.
The code does not provide clear instructions on how to act in every situation. However, with our guiding principles and the principles below, we can think ahead and thereby solve difficult situations and ethical dilemmas.
There may also be policies and governing documents with rules that go further or are more detailed than this Code of Conduct. If you are subject to such regulation in your role, the Code of Conduct applies as a supplement to these rules.
The Code of Conduct should be applied every day. It undergoes regular reviews to remain current and updated. The Code of Conduct has been adopted by the Board of Hammarviken Corporate Development, and only the Board can repeal or make changes to it.
Who is Affected?
The code applies to everyone who represents or works for Hammarviken Corporate Development or any of our wholly owned subsidiaries. This includes you who are a board member, employee, intern, consultant, partner, or who in some other way represent Hammarviken.
Board members in Hammarviken's subsidiaries, who are dispatched by Hammarviken, are expected to carry forward these values and working methods in their roles.
Hammarviken strives for all companies in the group to maintain their own Code of Conduct and will follow up on this in the respective boards. We view positively that companies in the group copy or are inspired by this Code of Conduct.
Depending on the nature of your role or work, there may be additional policies and guidelines that you need to follow alongside the Code of Conduct. If you are unsure, please contact your immediate supervisor.
Guiding Principles
Our guiding principles are our core values and the foundation of our corporate culture, and we operate based on these in all relationships. These cornerstones, combined with a broad competence in business, form the basis for our long-term relationships and successful businesses. People around us can feel confident that Hammarviken always has an open dialogue, honest collaboration, and acts with respect. We appreciate open and honest opinions but never at the expense of respect for others.
Openness
Hammarviken strives to develop and improve our companies. But to come up with good solutions, we need to be curious and open-minded.
Honesty
We want honest cooperation, and people around us should feel that they can trust Hammarviken.
Respect
By giving everyone a chance and considering our different backgrounds and experiences, we can build a good team of diverse people who all share the same values.
Competence
We see no contradiction in living by the principles above while still using the extensive competence in business that we possess.
Principles of the Code of Conduct
We treat everyone with respect and dignity
Together we create relationships and a working environment built on respect, equal treatment, and integrity. We promote diversity and inclusion and treat each other with dignity. We value a breadth of skills and experiences. We abstain from and counter unacceptable behavior such as bullying, discrimination, threats, harassment, sexism, racism, insults, aggression, and verbal and physical violence.
• Our language affects how people around us feel. We avoid negative and harmful jargon. We praise, uplift, and gladly help those we meet.
• We recruit based on the competencies we need.
We do fair and wise business
For us, relationships and trust are the most important. We also want to have fun together. Additionally, we follow competition laws, business ethics, and transparency in all our collaborations and operations. We handle business information and personal data according to legislation and maintain confidentiality where needed. Confidential information remains confidential. We do our utmost to avoid conflicts of interest. By conflicts of interest, we mean situations where a person's private interests risk conflicting with the interests of the business.
We care about sustainability and our resources
In addition to ensuring that our operations do not negatively impact economic, social, and ecological sustainability, we actively work to strengthen the areas we can influence. We manage our resources and consider how to best use them.
• This can include waste sorting and purchasing in offices, work environment, recruitment, or business development. It may require investments and tough decisions, but it is our way to future-proof both our world and our company.
• Hammarviken also has sustainability goals aligned with Agenda 2030 that we work towards.
We care about our brand
We are proud of our brand; it is what we collectively make it. How we act internally and externally can strengthen or undermine our brand. So think ahead!
• For example, using our logos in contexts that completely disregard our values.
• How we behave when representing Hammarviken and its companies.
We tolerate no form of corruption or bribery
That is, exploiting one's position to gain undue advantage for oneself or another. This can involve conflicts of interest, bribery, and corruption.

We prioritize well-being, health, and safety
We care about the individual's and the group's work situation, work environment, health, well-being, and development.
Good health takes precedence over work and workload. We follow occupational safety laws and regulatory requirements. It is important that everyone feels safe and secure at work.
• We facilitate further education to maintain a high level of knowledge.
• We work preventively in work environment, safety, and health.
• We do not work under the influence of legal or illegal substances.
We use our voice and position
Do you see, hear, or experience something that isn't right? We expect everyone to have the integrity to support those in need and to speak up when something is wrong. If it's difficult, ask for support from your immediate supervisor or colleagues.
• If you witness or are the target of discriminatory or sexist comments, give support and speak up!
Whistleblower Service
We strive to have an open and transparent workplace where misconduct does not occur.
The whistleblower function provides a safe and effective way to report suspicions of ongoing or past violations of legislation, misconduct, corruption, and irregularities.

If the Code of Conduct is not followed
Violation of the Code of Conduct is not tolerated and can result in sanctions.
If you feel that the Code of Conduct is not being followed, that you have experienced something that doesn't feel right, or that you have a dilemma you want help with, it is important that you speak up. This also applies to suspected law violations.
It is everyone's responsibility to raise concerns and report violations. This way, we can create change together. Silence reinforces, complicates, and normalizes negative events and dilemmas.
We can all make mistakes. Speak up about what has happened, apologize, and don't repeat the mistake. Swallowing our pride and learning from our mistakes is one of the hardest and finest things we can do.
