We have updated our investment strategy

Hammarviken has received a partially updated ownership directive which means a change in our investment strategy. Historically, we have mostly invested in the building and construction sector, but are now open to entering other industries. As part of this, we invested in Fruktbudet i Norden AB, you can read the press release here. The new directives create conditions for us as a company to be able to continue to develop and live in the long term.

Our investments are divided into four different areas. Direct, turnaround and property investments as well as innovation. The investment criteria for the various areas are presented here.

Direct investments

We invest in small and medium-sized companies operating in Sweden with a turnover of approx. 50-200 MSEK. The companies must be profitable and have a good history with a clear connection to sustainability and are happy to face some type of challenge where together we can take the company to the next level. We are flexible when it comes to ownership and can imagine anything from 100% to having a majority in the company. We value partnership and attach great importance to having shared mottos and values and always invest with a long-term horizon.

Turnaround investments

Through our wholly owned subsidiary Partnerinvest, we invest in so-called turnaround companies. It may be about a company with a fine history that for some reason ended up in some kind of difficulty. We have extensive experience in turnaround and possess the knowledge needed in these tough situations. With our own money, active ownership, effective work and modern influences, we restore companies to their true value.

Partnerinvest is interested in companies in virtually all industries, but refrains from companies with operations in things that Partnerinvest considers unethical. The companies must have a turnover of at least SEK 300 million.

Real estate investments

Our real estate operations are divided into two business legs. Management properties, where we invest in and manage premises with priority in south-west Gothenburg, as well as project development, where we invest in and develop land and properties. We develop both housing and commercial and community construction. The projects are run in-house or in collaboration with partners, depending on size, geography and property type.

Innovation

In our business area, which we have chosen to call Innovation, we invest through Yuncture Invest in innovative startup companies. Contrary to the direct investments via Hammarviken, Yuncture Invest wants to own minority shares in companies, and it has historically ended up with an ownership range between 5 and 30%. The reason for this is that the startup entrepreneur should have enough incentive to want to run the company himself for a longer period of time. We would like to see the companies have some form of "proof of concept", i.e. current income, completed pilot projects or the like. In addition to that, we have as a guideline to invest a maximum of SEK 1 million in an initial stage, in order to then be open to a reinvestment to defend or increase our ownership share.

When it comes to industries, Yuncture Invest looks broadly. The only guidelines that exist are that the specific industry, business and business idea is sustainable and ethically defensible. In addition to that, like the rest of the Hammarviken group, Yuncture Invest's guideline is to invest in companies where we can contribute more than just the capital. It could, for example, be about cutting-edge expertise, industry knowledge or general business development.
